    Abstract paragraph:

Get away you chicken pox freak. Only the red dots weren’t chicken pox but much worse it was measles. Measles used to be a very large world-wide problem. Most children would get the disease before the age of 15 it was rare if a teen over 15 or an adult would get the disease. The disease looked alot like chicken pox, high fever, cough, red rash, and blood shot eyes. People didn’t start to wrry untill about 1 in every 5 children were dieing. The first case was in 165-180A.D and it desimated the Roman army. There are still outbreaks, the last one was in April, 2009. Kids can still die from this disease about 20% of the kids in a small 3rd world country village will die.

    Abstract-
Get away you chicken pox freak! Only that the red dots weren’t chicken pox, but much worse, it was measles. Measles is still a world-wide problem, in the last 150 yrs over 200million people have died. Most children got the disease before they were 15 years old. The disease was a lot like the chicken pox. The person would get a high fever, cough, red rash, and blood shot eyes. Scientists and the government didn’t start to worry until 1 in every 5 kids were dying. So people started to try and find a vaccine it became part of the MMR vaccine, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. The first suspected case was in 165-180A.D it decimated the Roman army and would kill 1/3 of the population in some areas. In 1954 the disease was isolated to an eleven year old boy in the United States. The measles vaccine became available in 1963 by john Enders. The measles vaccine shot is alive, attenuated or weakened strian of the virus. Measles has an incubation period of 9-12 days german measles has a 17-21 day incubation period. The peak times for measle is March and April. The latest known case of measles was April 1st 2009 in North Wales. 21 strains of measles have been identified. Measles is also a RNA virus.
